Chris finishes 3rd in the Midnight Special @ Vegas, June 30th

As the sun set in the Nevada desert, Chris Boyer settles himself into the passenger seat of a champ car owned by Freeman Racing.  He and his driver, Lonan, were given the green flag and off they went.  Unfortunately, a distributor problem made their evening more of a challenge than the darkness did.  After the 1/2 way mark, Chris took over the driver's seat, the crew was able to replace the distributor and the night became less of a struggle and more of a celebration when they finished 3rd place in their class.

Although exhausted when he got out of the car, he was so excited having the opportunity to not only ride but drive as well.  Chris said that he loved getting the experience and especially being able to do it at night.  That truly is a test of one's ability! Congratulations Chris!  You certainly made your team and family proud!

Next for Chris Boyer, CORR!

Yes Boyer fans, the updates are finally here.  Sorry for the delay in bringing you all up to speed.  Let's get started with Chula Vista June 9th and 10th.

Once again there was history to be made in CORR.  Unfortunately it wasn't another 1, 2, 3 but there were 34 single buggies that showed up to race!  From the announcers words " I've done a lot of races and I can say this is the first time I'm honestly scared!"  It was unbelievable to see those 1600s lined up 8 across.  At one point it literally looked like LA at rush hour. But in true racing fashion they showed up to race and race they did!! Although it wasn't a stellar weekend for Boyer Racing, they did still manage to come home with a 4th & 5th place on Saturday and 2nd place Sunday.

Cory's weekend unfortunately didn't go the way he would have liked, but he still managed to display that Boyer determination and finished both races in 22nd and 30th places.  After getting tangled in a mess on turn one, a flat tire, ending up on a k rail and then having to defend a possible DQ (that was cleared and revoked) he still ended the weekend 7th overall in the points standing.

As for Rick, after getting those crazy whoop d dos down, he went out and brought in a 5th and 17th.  It was a battle with Greg on Saturday that made for some fun family competition and Sunday he would have been up there again except for a spin out that set him back.  I'm sure we'll see him make up for it in Antelope Valley!

And then for Greg.  It was a 4th and 2nd for the weekend.  On Saturday as, you read above, he was in the battle for 4th with OMB and on Sunday he got a 3rd place on the podium. However, after CORR disqualified Fitzgerald for a hit in the "no hit zone" Greg was awarded the 2nd place position!
It was a tough weekend but the Boyer's still put on a satisfying show.

Point Standings

  • Greg - 4th place

  • Cory - 7th place

  • Rick  - 9th place

OMB Gets a Win!!!!

For those of you who don't know what OMB stands for, it is Old Man Boyer.  However, there was nothing old about the way Rick Boyer raced at the LA County Fairplex bringing home a 1st Place on Sunday!  Yes, you read it correctly, Rick took the checkered flag.

With only 2 races into the CORR season, Boyer Racing is keeping us on the edge of our seats.  On Saturday 5/19/07, Greg was the front runner starting in 8th position.  He was back & forth between 2nd, 3rd, & 4th but unfortunately fell short at the very end.  After getting caught up in lapped traffic, Greg finished in 4th place.  Cory & Rick started in the back of the pack and were able to finish 9th and 22nd.  Nice job Cory making the top 10!

And then there was Sunday!  With inverted starting positions, Rick & Cory were now starting in the front with Greg in 20th.  Rick immediately shot out into first place and was completely untouchable after that.  You would have thought he had a force field around his car!  Behind Rick, after some battling, Cory earned the well deserved 2nd place spot on the podium.  What else can you say about that except Cory is ON FIRE!  Unfortunately, Greg's day ended after 9 laps.  After driving the hardest hes ever driven, Greg was able to move his way up to 5th place.  (Do you think he was trying to get that all Boyer podium again!)  But in the 6th turn he hit the inside K rail and the impact forced him across the track resting him on top of the outside wall.  Luckily he was not injured but as you can imagine the car is a whole other story!

Although they didn't get the 1, 2, and 3 once again, the weekend still proved to be a success for the Boyer Racing Team.  And as for Rick, let's hope we don't have to wait another 7 years to see a 1st place finish from him!

Point Standings after Sunday's Race:

  • Cory Boyer 1st - 59 points

  • Rick Boyer 5th - 43 points

  • Greg Boyer 8th - 35 points

Hope to see you all in Chula Vista!!!!

Boyer Racing Makes Off Road Racing History!

The opening of the CORR season proved to be an exciting one for the Boyer Racing team.  On Saturday 4/21/07, history was made when the Boyer's finish 1, 2 & 3 in the single buggy race at Antelope Valley.  Cory not only got the seasons first win but he gets his first career victory.  CONGRATS CORY! Greg took 2nd place and with a lot of determination (and skill of course) Rick was able to grab 3rd by a wheel length.  Talk about an adrenaline rush!!!!  There was nothing like seeing an all Boyer podium!

As for Sunday, everyone was hoping for a repeat but unfortunately it wasn't in the cards.  However, it was Cory's weekend to dominate.  With the 1st place from Saturday already in hand, from a #20 start position, Cory was able to take the 2nd place spot.  Nice job Cory!  And in the words of the announcer, we have a feeling we will be seeing a lot you this year!

The day didn't bode as well for Rick and Greg but considering Rick getting spun out and Greg's 3rd lap flat tire, they were still able to take an 8th and 10th place.  Ultimately, attending every practice really paid off for the guys and at the end of the day Cory leads in points with Rick and Greg close behind in 3rd.

As you can imagine this weekend was the biggest career highlight of the Boyer Racing team.  Rick Boyer, proud father of Greg & Cory (Chris & Kevin) had been waiting a long time for this moment!

The team would like to thank:

Wiks Racing Engines, Folts Transmissions, Questek Ring and Pinion, Fox Shocks, Mobile Radio Communications, VBI Painting, Genuine Web and BF Goodrich.

The SNORE Battle at Primm race was the debut for S3 (The new Short Course Car built by Lothringer Engineering) The 104" wheel base car will be competing in the 2007 CORR Series. Rick drove the car both days finishing in 9th place for the weekend. Rick loves the car and thinks it will be great for the CORR Series this year. The first CORR test date will be March 17th at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in Los Angeles, CA. Greg had some bad luck in D1 (The Desert 2 seater) at the SNORE Battle at Primm. Finishing in 25th place because of motor problems. Greg was able to pull of a 9th place on Sunday though! Chris Boyer had his first 4 wheel race placing 3rd in the Limited Sportsman class. "He's a natural!" Greg said after riding with him in Saturdays race. Cory road with Chris Sunday because of Greg staying up too late the night before. Ha!

Photos of the SNORE Battle at Primm race are now online. Thanks to Gordon Davis (The team Photographer) for coming to all the races and supporting Boyer Racing.

Cory Boyer takes 2nd at the MDR Bud Light Dash! With 40 plus cars Cory races to the top making a name for himself. Joey Woods co-road the whole race with Cory. The car would have been flawless until the belly pan decided to fall off on the last lap just miles from the finish. The pan slowed him down of course but maybe if Eugenio didn't cut the course Cory would have gotten his 1st victory! Good job Cory.

8/25/06

The SCORE Terrible's Cup II was held July 27-29. There was no way the Boyer's would miss it! Rick and Cory had the driving dutes that weekend. Rick was driving D1 and Cory borrowed Dave Caspino's 2-1600. The boys had a so-so weekend placing in the top 10 both days. Final results put Rick in 8th and Cory in 6th for the weekend. The boys would like to thank all the family and friends that came out to watch the races. Boyer's plan on having their two new single seat Lothringer's ready for this event next year. More news to come about the new cars soon...

Greg Boyer Dominates the CORR Single Buggy class taking home a 1st & 2nd place July 22nd & 23rd. "It was a trouble free weekend for me, the car was running perfect!" Rick's buggy had a few new car issues that the team worked on all weekend. Saturday Rick took a 24th place, and Sunday he took a 8th. Rick pulled the fastest lap during Sundays race. Cory & Ashley took a 6th place Saturday and a 16th place Sunday. There were times Cory was fighting for 2nd and 3rd place, that's a major accomplishment for a Desert car in this Series. The team didn't pull off a 1,2,3 finish like they wanted to but they feel that they have a good chance in September.

The Boyer's would like to thank everyone who came out to support them. Also they would like to thank Wiks Racing Engines, Dave Folts Transmissions, BFG Tires, Fox Shocks, and Mobile Radio Communications.

Team Boyer Racing is going to try and make history at next months CORR Chula Vista race by placing all three cars in the top three. Rick will debut his new Single Buggy that he just purchased from the Fitzgerald's in Nebraska. Greg & Cory will share driving in both their Single Buggy & Desert 1600 car.

The May CORR Chula Vista race was the first race for Greg & Cory's Single Buggy. Unfortunately the boys didn't have much test time before the first race, therefore new car bugs came about. Saturday's race didn't go well because of carburetor problems. Cory had to park the car early, the motor just wouldn't run. The team came to a conclusion that the stock full pump wasn't giving the motor enough fuel so they went straight to the electrical pump. Sunday Greg got tangled with the second place car and got a flat forcing him to pit on the mandatory caution. Greg placed 8th and was very happy how the car handled. The team did many adjustments on the shocks throughout the weekend and feels the car is almost perfect. The race will air on the Speed Channel sometime soon but, there is no set date as of yet.

Not only is Rick debuting his new Single Buggy, but he’s making an appearance in short course racing once again after a 6 year break. Rick has many years of experience in the short track racing. He has won many races and has traveled all over the world to race. Rick is anxious to get back out on the track and give the young guns a run for their money.

The next CORR race is July 22nd through 23rd in Chula Vista, CA. Come out and watch Rick, Greg, and Cory battle it out together for a 1, 2, 3 finish.
